The factory pins are 2 pieces. Many dislike the 1 piece because it does away with a safety feature of the design. So far I did his old Browning Belgium and his old Colt New Service. This weekend I worked on his old Golden. It failed to eject and the action was very stiff. Like so many of my projects the problem was decades of abuse and poor cleaning.Short pin protrusion is easy to fix on a 39. If you look at the pin, you'll see a big shoulder at the front where it hits the front of the firing pin slot in the bolt. File a bit off this until the pin sticks out enough, but not enough that it dents the chamber edge. Proceed slowly and preferably with a mike or a good set of calipers.
The main spring, on the new rifles, is pretty heavy so you may have some gunk in firing pin channel. You should not find any firing problems, with any manufacturers ammo. You can have extraction problems, with match ammo because of the rim thickness. Nov 9, 2023 · These new 39A's with the rebounding safety do not. The old ones had a deep notch in the hammer that the trigger would slip into and be safe. The new ones only have a ledge in the hammer that the trigger rests ON, not IN.
