Ford 601 workmaster
I have the same carb problem with my 601 (661) Workmaster. The last carb that I rebuilt was a Rochester Quadrajet 4bbl. (over 5 years ago), with vacuum actuated secondaries. What a job! So…after thinking about the rebuild on the 601, I gave in and splurged and bought a new carb (copy of original) for about $200.00.

Hi jobe, originally the 601 series had a Proofmeter, an oil pressure, temp gauge a fuel gauge and a generator / alternator light, no ammeter, a temp gauge is definitely more important then an ammeter or if you prefer the ammeter then remove the fuel gauge.Valve Clearance.
