Edelbrock 7102 cam sound
03-16-2017, 06:16 PM. I have a 350 chevy engine that has the Edelbrock top end package with the 7102 cam. The previous owner installed a Pete Jackson gear drive and used the 2 degree retard insert for some reason. What should the result be by using the 2 degree retard versus being set a 0 degree. The engine is not very responsive at low end.

I noticed that when I opened up the timing cover that the marks on the cam gear and the crankshaft gear were both at the 12 o'clock position while the distributor rotor was pointed at the #1 post on the cap and the mark on the harmonic balancer was pointed to 0 degrees TDC.
